Happy Friday!
I can hear thunder as I sit and write this blog on this beautiful, rainy day in the studio. Here in North Carolina we are in dire need of some rain, so today is a welcome change. The facet that some people have too much rain, while we have too little rain is not lost on me. The devastating flooding this week has been heart wrenching.
My little studio is busy at work, though today I may have to do none machine tasks…I do not run the long arm while there is a high probability of lightening or power outages. I could do real damage if I kept going while Lenni stopped from loss of power! I can use my domestic machines, though, and I have plenty of hand work and prep work that can be done even if the electricity goes out. Sewing is so versatile that way!
Blogs will likely become shorter here at the end of the year, but I will do my best to check in each week. I am currently working on a blog about the process I go through to make a quilt…what steps I follow and the order of operations, and the idea that I often have a lot of choices of what to tackle next in the studio, which I know I have discussed before. As you know, I always have several orders on the go…right now I am working on at least five quilts in varying stages. I have one to bind, two to piece, one with applique to sew and HeatnBond, needle turn applique for handwork, and several quilts already in my brain, mulling ideas quietly. My work is never far from my mind, even when I am not aware of it!
Have a wonderful week,
Ginger
Reading now: I am nearly finished with East of Eden…I am holding my breath. I remember loving this book the first time I read it, years and years and years ago, but I do not remember what happened. This second reading has been a wonderful rediscovery. I am into the next chapter of Trembling Hands, and I am still learning a lot. I might begin an Agatha Christie Anthology I have, but I might start the Slow Horses series, too…as always I have lots of options.
I’m so pleased to see so many people voted and made a resounding statement. NPR is still a great place for news and information. Fridays are especially interesting…Embodied and Science Friday here!
